Master of Arts in Education Programs

Students obtaining an MAE at UMBC can focus their coursework in various mathematics, science and STEM disciplines. All MAE degree concentrations focus on teacher research and leadership. Program projects and assignments focus on direct applications to teachers’ classrooms or schools.

The Master of Arts in Education curriculum consists of 12 courses (36 credits). If pursuing the computer science, mathematics, or STEM content area, the program is offered fully online.

Computer Science

K-12 Computer science

  • The program is intended for current teachers who want to educate students in computer science principles and meet the growing demand for computer science courses in the K – 12 schools.
  • Content courses include instruction in programming, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and big data.

Secondary Mathematics
