Certificate and non-degree students will not be charged a matriculation fee or orientation fee. The certificate diploma fee will continue to be charged when the application for certificate diploma is submitted to the Graduate School. Read more about matriculation fees.
Cost of Attendance
Cost of Attendance (COA) represents an estimate of the maximum costs a student might expect based on tuition and fees, housing, transportation, books and materials, miscellaneous living expenses, and loan fees (as applicable). Please refer to the UMBC Financial Aid and Scholarships Cost of Attendance for more information.
Financial Aid and Scholarships
Since this program is designed primarily for working professionals, graduate assistantships are limited. Students are eligible to apply for non-research based graduate assistantships offered through other academic departments. However, graduate students, if eligible can apply for federal aid and support. For the most detailed information on financial aid for prospective graduate students, refer to Financial Aid and Scholarships.
Community Leadership Needs-Based Scholarship
Students newly admitted into the Community Leadership M.P.S. for fall may apply for a needs-based scholarship. This scholarship opportunity is intended to support students who lack the resources needed to pay for the program, and are eligible to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We are hopeful that these scholarships will encourage anyone working toward community transformation and social change to become a student in the program. The amount of the award varies, and the award may be renewed for an additional semester.
Eligibility: Students must be admitted into the Community Leadership Master’s Program for fall and may apply in the UMBC Scholarship Retriever by submitting a goals statement, resume, one letter of recommendation, and their FAFSA.
The scholarship priority deadline is August 1. Contact Us for more information.
