Starting spring 2023 Learning and Performance Technology (LAPT) students will not need to obtain individual authorization in order to register for a course.
Students should review required courses for their plan of study, prerequisites, and course offerings before registration. Students who are unsure of what course to take should contact the OPP Student Success Group at opp-studentsuccess@umbc.edu.
All Master’s students and most certificates should take LAPT 602: Instructional Systems Development as their first course. Students in the LAPT certificate should begin with LAPT 796 or LAPT 603 in semesters where LAPT 796 is not offered.
Master’s students’ last course should be LAPT 794: LAPT Capstone Experience.
Academic Planning Forms
Note: Starting fall 2022, the Learning and Performance Technology program changed from a 36-credit program to a 30-credit program. Read our FAQs for more information.
Graduate Students may utilize the Academic Planning Form to assist in their course planning. Master’s students completing 36 credits for the LAPT MA or ISD MA should use the 36-credit Planning form. Master’s students in the 30 credit LAPT MA should use the 30-credit Planning form. Certificate students may use either form.
Students should register online as soon as possible. The Registrar’s Office provides instructions for how to register online.
