Virtual Events

Webex

At this time, all UMBC Professional Programs virtual events are supported via the Webex platform.

Accessing Webex Meetings and Events via a Laptop or Desktop Computer

To ensure the best experience possible we recommend you download the Webex app on a laptop or desktop computer to access UMBC virtual events. If you plan on attending our virtual events using your mobile device, skip to the Mobile Access section below.

  1. Click on the event that you wish to join through your event confirmation email or the event webpage. Make sure your pop-up blocker is disabled.
  2. Enter your first name, last name, and email address that you used when registering for the event.

Accessing Webex Events Via a Mobile Device

Download the Webex app to your mobile device prior to the event to join the Webex session. If you already have the app you can select to use the app that is installed.

  1. On the day of the event, select the session you wish to attend through your event confirmation email or the event webpage.
  2. Fill out your information (first name, last name, and email address you used to register).
  3. Click the “Join Now” button and select that you would like to join using the app that is installed.
  4. Click “Start” and you will join the session.

If you have issues with meeting quality, try closing other applications, turning off your video, and/or switching to a computer.

Joining Breakout Rooms

During some of our virtual programs, you may be asked to join breakout rooms in Webex Meetings. For instructions on how to join a breakout space via a desktop or mobile device, please visit the Webex Help Guide for full instructions.

Call-In Option

If you experience any issues joining Webex using the link provided, you may be able to call in for audio only by dialing: 1-202-860-2110. If the event has the option for you to participate by phone, you will need to enter the 10-digit meeting number provided during the event or within your email confirmation.

In order to fully participate in our events, we strongly encourage you to join from a computer or the free Webex app. Participants who call in to the meeting will have very limited functionality and not be able to join breakout rooms.
